MSU Extension Small Fruit Educator
Extension Educator and Ph.D. Entomologist with expertise in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), pest phenology modeling, food safety, rural development, and technology transfer. Since 2002, he has served as a Small Fruit Extension Educator with MSU Extension, developing and delivering curriculum-based educational programs and providing technical assistance to Michigan's small fruit industry. His work integrates on-farm research, Extension outreach, and grower education to improve crop production, pest management, and food safety practices.
He has led the development of several innovative training programs, including the bilingual (English/Spanish) Blueberry IPM Scout Training Program, the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Food Safety in Blueberry Production Program, and a statewide educational initiative on Managing Spotted Wing Drosophila Using a Systems Approach. He also contributed to the development of pest phenology models for cranberry fruitworm and cherry fruitworm, which are available through the MSU Enviroweather system and are widely used by growers to improve pest management decision-making.
