Jim joined MSU Extension in 1976, serving as Leelanau County Extension Director, then District Fruit IPM Agent and finally as District Horticulturalist and NW MI Horticulture Research Station Coordinator. Since retirement from MSU in 2007, he has served on several fruit industry related boards. He and his wife grow cherries on their farm near Suttons Bay.
