George W. Sundin is a University Distinguished Professor and Extension Specialist of Tree Fruit Pathology at Michigan State University. He joined the faculty in the Department of Plant, Soil, and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State University in 2002 with a research emphasis in phytobacteriology and with extension responsibilities in tree fruit disease management. His current research centers on the Erwinia amylovora fire blight pathosystem with projects ranging from developing improved chemical and biological approaches for fire blight management to basic studies of pathogen-host interactions. The Sundin lab also works on management of fungal diseases including apple scab, cherry leaf spot, and brown rot and on the development and management of bactericide and fungicide resistance in tree fruit pathogens.
